Union representing Reynoldsville police officers supports petition efforts
The union representing police officers in the Reynoldsville Police Department has issued a statement in support of efforts to prevent the borough council from adopting a budget that does not include money for part time officers.
Petitions have been circulating the borough calling on council to restore the funding. The final vote on the budget is set for December 16 at the council’s regular meeting at 6 p.m. at the fire hall.
Teamsters Local 110 spokesman Rick Keller issued the statement today call on council to restore the funding an questioning the council’s move to limit public’s participation in the meeting due to COVID-19 restrictions. In the final paragraph Keller states:
“The Union expects to monitor this situation very closely, and if the Borough once again acts without bargaining as required under state law, Local 110 is prepared to take further legal actions to force the Borough to live up to its basic legal obligations.”
The borough already has a unfair labor practice filed against it by the union on behalf of part time officer Tammy Murray. That action has been delayed several times. Editor’s note: it was confirmed today that the hearing is now slated for February 26, 2021, in Pittsburgh.
