A wind gusts caused the accident that closed the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 for several hours in Jefferson County today (Nov. 22).
State Police out of DuBois say a tractor-trailer hauling plastic pipe was headed east near mile marker 93 when the wind caught the pipes and started to overturn the trailer.
The driver attempted to straighten out the trailer but struck the right guide rail. After impact, the unit overturned, spilling the pipe along the shoulder of the roadway. The truck came to rest blocking both lanes of traffic.
The driver, Roger Mora-Chinchilla of Landing, New Jersey, was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.
