Hit and run accident on Main Street in Reynoldsville causes problems early today

State Police are investigating a hit and run accident that occurred on Main Street in Reynoldsville early today.

According to the report, a vehicle was traveling eastbound when it left the roadway onto a nearby sidewalk and struck a mail box and road sign. It then traveled back across both lanes and struck a utility pole which caused damage to other poles. The vehicle then fled in an unknown direction. A search of the area came up empty.

Police were assisted at the scene by the Reynoldsville Fire Department and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Motorists heading to work or school this morning were still being rerouted off Main Street while clean up work was being completed.
