Reynoldsville firefighters called to three reports of downed trees this week; could the weather be to blame?
Wet, windy weather has kept the Reynoldsville Fire department busy. The volunteers have been called out to three reports of trees down across roadways this week.
On Sunday, a large tree fell and blocked Route 322 for a time just west of the borough. It also took down power lines in the area.
Another call came in on May 30 for a tree down in Washington Township. They were called to another report on May 30 as well on Sandy Valley Road but didn’t locate a downed tree.
According to an article by Alex Sosnowski, a senior meteorologist for Accuweather, all the rain we’ve been having has saturated the ground and that can cause trees to lose their grip and topple over. You can read the entire article here.
As the wet weather continues, motorists need to be alert to the possibility a tree may have fallen in the road ahead.
