One item on the agenda that was approved was a dual credit affiliation agreement with Penn State University to provide coursework for Jeff Tech students.

School Director Dr. Barry Fillman said the agreement is designed to help students who want to start their own business.

“They can be really good at welding or working on automobiles or any number of our trades…the struggle is to be good at running a business,” he said.

Dr. Fillman said students will be able to take courses on basic business principles, entrepreneurship, and how to market and sell a product. He added that this agreement will “swing the door open” for future dual affiliation credit agreements with Penn State.

Dr. Fillman also announced that there will be an “Everything on Wheels” show at Jeff Tech on May 11 from 9 am to 11 am.

School Principal Melissa Mowrey said that the school has received 130 enrollment applications so far with about a month to go. She estimates that there will be 540 students attending Jeff Tech next year, but that number could change as more applications are received.

The committee also set the Jeff Tech graduation date for Friday, May 26, at 7 p.m.

Prior to the meeting, art students who participated in a recent art show in Brookville addressed the committee explaining some of their works. A display was placed behind the committee of the art works that were a part of the show. Their instructor, Angela Dragich, also attended the meeting.
