Area fire and rescue departments to receive COVID-19 relief grants

Area fire and rescue companies will receive money in the form of grants from the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OFSC).

According to the OFSC web site, the COVID-19 Crisis Fire, Rescue, and EMS Grant is designed to provide “much needed financial assistance to first responders who have found it difficult to keep their operations running due to COVID-19.”

Among those receiving the grant in Jefferson County are the Reynoldsville Volunteer Fire Department, which will receive $23,562, and the Sykesville Fire Department, which will receive $24,647. The Sykesville Ambulance Service will receive $14,591.
