DASD board holds special meeting, appoints a new member by Glenn Schuckers
The DuBois Area School Board has a new member as the result of a special meeting on January 3, 2023. Due to the death of member Jeff Mattinger, the board met to appoint a member to represent District B. The newly appointed member will serve until the end of December, 2023.
After interviewing the only applicant for the position, the board voted unanimously to appoint David Cuneo to the position. During the interview, Cuneo stated that he has been watching the board for the past few years and thought it was doing a good job of setting policies for the District and he wanted that to continue by helping keep the district on “an even keel.” In the past he has served the community as a fireman and been active with the Boy Scouts. He has two sons who are students in the District.
He also said he feels extra curricular activities are important to students developing a well-rounded education and having the opportunity to interact with other students. He said the board has done well managing the finances of the District and has been a good steward of those finances.
Mr. Cuneo was sworn into office after being elected and will begin his duties as a member at the two meetings later this month.
