The Jeff Tech Operating Committee held a special session on June 13 at 4 in the afternoon to take care of pressing business that couldn’t wait until the next regular meeting.

The committee voted to hire Jennifer Gaston to fill the recently created assistant principal position. Gaston currently holds a similar position at the Clearfield Area School District and was a former teacher in the DuBois Area School District.

No time period was given as to when she would start, but the agreement that was approved by the committee begins in July of this year and runs through the end of the 2025 school year.

In other action, the committee approved the resignation of Haley McCombs, special education secretary, effective June 7. They also hired Jeff Tech alum Ryan Munoz as a full time welding instructor and named Troy Frederick as the Integrated Pest Management Coordinator.

In his report to the committee, School Director Dr. Barry Fillman thanked all those who were working at the school during the summer, stating that “a lot of work has to be done” to get ready for the new school year in the fall.
