Jeff Tech Operating Committee meets

The Jeff Tech Operating Committee held an online session for its regular monthly meeting on February 22 due to the snow day.

The committee handled routine business including the purchase of simulation equipment for the practical nursing program at a cost of $59,421. The money for the purchase will come from a federal grant.

During the report session, board chair Dr. Fred Park of the Brookville School District asked about the deficit noted in the food service report. It was explained the loss was Covid-19 related, including the fact there was no a la cart menu as meals are delivered to classrooms.

A summary report of the sending district’s 2021-2022 budget was submitted for review, but it was stressed that the figures were preliminary. Business Manager Sherry Hasselman said that she was expecting more revenue over the next few weeks.

A complete presentation of budget will take place at the March regular meeting. Once approved, it will be sent to the four sending districts, DuBois, Brookville, Punxsutawney, and Brockway, for a mail ballot vote.
