Jeff Tech Operating Committee meets
Before the meeting, art/math teacher Angela Dragich and two art students, Halee-Jeanne Postlewait and Megan Deemer, both from the Brookville School District, presented each member with a copy of a student-created book in honor of Career and Technical Education Month held in February. The Art Club plans to use the book as a fundraiser.
During the director’s report, School Principal Melissa Mowrey told the committee that the school has reached 109 applications for the next school year.
“We have never, ever, ever..by the end of February been at that point,” she told the committee.
Mowrey added that 104 of the 109 applications are from students from the four sending school districts, DuBois, Punxsutawney, Brookville, and Brockway.
Mowrey estimates that the freshman class for next year will be around 165 students, and that the total enrollment could hit near 575 students, but those numbers will change in the months to come. She added there will be another recruitment fair March 16 from 5-7 p.m..
During the regular agenda, the committee approved a motion to retain Dr. Barry Fillman as the school director through the 2028-2029 school year, a position he’s held since 2015.
