Lakelawn Cemetery sold at auction
The Jefferson County Judicial Sale of Lands by the Tax Assessment Office was held on April 24 and featured some news of interest for Reynoldsville Area residents.
Lakelawn Cemetery and related properties located in Winslow Township were sold to Keith and Elaine Klingler of Titusville for the bid price of $12,000. This includes 36.5 acres designated as the cemetery, 2.1 acres with 1 house and 1 building, and an additional 17.65 acres.
All three parcels had to be sold together as one unit by order of the Jefferson County Court of Common Pleas. It was previously held by Grenier Enterprises, Incorporated. The owner, Edmund Grenier, is serving time in prison on numerous charges, including theft by deception and deceptive business practices.
Another property sold in the auction was the tavern located at 24 West Main Street in Reynoldsville. It was purchased by Robert Beck of Reynoldsville for the bid price of $1,000.
In its efforts to deal with dilapidated and vacant buildings, Reynoldsville Borough was successful in its efforts to purchase two such properties for $1,000 each. The location was not given for the first property, but the second is located at 220 West Main Street.
