Scouts take action to spread kindness

On Saturday, April 27, 2019, Reynoldsville Cadette Girl Scout Troop 22170 placed 25 rocks with inspirational, kindness and anti-bullying messages throughout the Reynoldsville, Sykesville, DuBois and Falls Creek areas for their Take Action project to finish their scout aMAZE Journey.

A Take Action project has to be sustainable and not a community service project. The girls felt the messages on the rocks will help change people’s mindset by reminding them they are important as well as the importance to “Peace, be kind.” Changing someone’s mindset makes their project sustainable.

On the back of each rock, instructions were written asking the finder to post a picture of the rock they found to PA Wilds Rocks Facebook page and re-hide the rock. Sharing the pictures on Facebook allows for more people to see the messages.

Three of the rocks have been found and shared to PA Wilds Rocks. The girls have been enjoying seeing their rocks being shared and are excited for their messages of friendship to be spread.
