Want to help those who are fighting COVID-19? Here are two recommendations
People have been looking for ways to help those on the front lines in hospitals do their job and do it safely. Penn Highlands Healthcare (PHH) has a way you can donate money on line.
Called “Here for Our Heroes,” the program gives area residents a way to help by donating money to purchase much needed supplies.
The web site states, “Providing protection to our patients, staff and community is our number one priority, but we need help.”
The form provides a way for the contributor to donate in memory of someone or in support of their hero health care worker.
The site can be found at phhealthcare.org.
Penn Highlands officials are also asking area residents to donate blood. At today’s teleconference, Dr. Shaun Sheen said that “giving blood…is absolutely safe.”
He said COVID-19 is a respiratory virus and does infect the blood. Donation sites are following strict guidelines to protect everyone involved, including the donor.
Penn Highlands Elk is sponsoring a blood drive Tuesday, April 14, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at PH Elk Education Center. They are also planning drives for May 5, June 2, July 7, and August 4 at the same time and location.
Penn Highlands DuBois will hold a blood drive on Friday, May 8, from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM, at the Central Resource Center.
